House Built on Love

House Built on Love was inspired by a dream I had of a gnarly tree, its roots twisting and turning to reveal hidden words and meanings. If you look closely, you’ll find the word “Love” woven into the roots — hidden yet in plain sight, easily missed unless you slow down and really look.

This idea became the foundation of the entire painting and the wider concept of Hidden Realms. Through the interplay of negative and positive space, many characters and forms emerge organically as the painting develops. They reveal themselves gradually, almost magically, which keeps me deeply engaged — especially as a painting can take weeks or even months to complete. I never fully know what the finished piece will look like until it’s done.

House Built on Love is a personal favourite of mine and has become a kind of good-luck charm for many people — often chosen for a new home, or during redecorating, as a magical centrepiece to invite love into a space.
