The inspiration for The Secret Garden came from a hidden entrance to an undisturbed woodland at the bottom of my cottage garden. Once through the entrance, I found a large ancient oak tree surrounded by a circle of mushrooms and it was clear I had found a true fairy circle. In that hidden realm I could sense that it is where faery and magical beings exist and while the painting itself is a world of playful storytelling of a world that is hidden in plain sight.
