The inspiration for Flutterbys came from a fairy circle in the woodland behind my cottage. As I sat beneath an ancient woodland oak, a beam of light broke through the canopy — and suddenly a cluster of butterflies rose into the air. In that moment, time stopped and the beauty and majesty was breathtaking. Between the leaves and shadows, subtle orbs of light appeared — just as nature spirits often reveal themselves. This is the hidden world I paint, and the inspiration behind Hidden Realms.
